Warm or Cool Undertones? Figuring out the best colors for your skin tone.
Have you ever tried on a dress, looked at yourself in the mirror, and felt like you hadn't seen the sun in a few years? You probably tried on a color that isn't the most complimentary to your skin tone.
In order to figure out which colors best compliment your tone, you need to determine your undertone. Undertones can be broken down into three categories: cool, warm, and neutral. Here are a few ways you can figure out which you are:
1. Look at your veins. Typically, veins that are more blue indicate that you have cool undertones while veins with a more green appearance indicate warm undertones.
2. The Neutral Test. Think about which neutral colors look best on you. If you find yourself being drawn to black, you probably have cool undertones. White or ivory colors can indicate warm undertones.
3. The Sun's Effects. Do you burn when you go out in the sun? Or do you tan easily? If you burn, that probably means you have cool undertones while the ability to tan easily would indicate warm undertones.
Of course all of this is a starting point. Some people with cool undertones can pull off colors that typically look best on warm undertones and vice versa. This is a great guide when starting your search for a formal dress or your new summer wardrobe! For more details visit Style Caster!
