Prom- Post Pandemic Style

Hey. Hi. Hello and welcome back to our fashion blog!

Today, we're diving right in! A while ago, we made a post detailing some options for all our high school readers who are missing out on their 2020 prom due to the COVID-19 school closings. As things are ever-evolving this is a follow-up post to discuss what updates we have for you!

*Note-- many of the specifics we discuss today are for our local, Indy readers. However, even if you aren't local to Indianapolis you can likely take note of what we talk about and find (or make) similar opportunities in your own area!

Prom at the Palladium

The Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, IN will be hosting Prom at the Palladium August 7 and 8. This event will include all of the traditional prom staples-- music and dancing, refreshments and more in lieu of the school-specific proms. The Center for the Performing Arts is hosting this event for all graduating, Indiana, High School Seniors. Those seniors need only pick a night and choose a friend to bring along for the ticket price of $10.

  1. Make sure to buy your tickets AS SOON as they go on sale! These things will go fast, and you don't want to miss out on your senior prom! We've added a link to the ticket sales below so you can find them easily.
  2. Make sure you have something to wear! This is a real-deal prom! Come shop RaeLynn's and we will help you find your dream dress among our HUGE selection! If you will be renting a tux-- hop to it! You'll want to make sure you have all of this taken care of plenty early, it's a busy time of year!
  3. Pick a locally owned restaurant in the city to eat at before the event. While they will have light refreshments, a nice dinner is a prom staple and Indy has so many awesome choices. We recommend checking out The Eagle for traditional American/Southern fare, St. Elmo's is an Indy staple if you're looking for a high-end steak dinner before dancing the night away, and the Cake Bake Shop if you're looking for delicious food with the best photo-ops. We definitely recommend reservations as they may still be operating on a fraction of normal capacity and undoubtedly will be busy!
  4. Have the best time! This is such a unique opportunity, and has never been done before! Take advantage and get to experience a prom with the entire Indy community and surrounding seniors while getting the FULL prom experience. Get dinner, make friends, take all the photos, and dance all night!

Tickets are required for the event and will go on sale July 6 and be purchased here. This will give all high school seniors an opportunity to attend their senior prom with all the traditional fanfare.

Attendance at these events is being limited to 400 students per night and both chaperones and security will be present. Additionally, student IDs will be checked during admission.

Don't miss out on this awesome opportunity to say goodbye to your high school career! Come let us help you pick your dream dress (if you haven't already shopped RaeLynn's) and celebrate the close of high school and beginning of college at this event!

DIY and At Home Proms

If Carmel, IN is a little far for a one night trip, fear not! We have a few more tricks up our sleeve to help you out. DIY and at home proms are becoming more and more common and we're going to explain just how to pull it off!

  1. Pick a Date! The summer between high school and college flys by and chances are you have a senior or two in your friend group and they are going to have orientations, family vacations, and the like to plan around. Make sure to pick a time where no one is left out.

  2. Pick a Place! Space is the key here. Consider the number of people you are wanting to host. Have a friend who has an awesome outdoor space and may be willing to let you use it? Perfect!
  3. Decorate. Make it the real deal! Hang streamers and balloons maybe even choose a theme!
  4. Dress to the nines. If you haven't purchased yours already, come visit us and let us help pick out your dream dress! Get your hair and make-up done and make sure that you're feeling your absolute best.
  5. Have the best time! Go out to your favorite restaurant (yay for them being open again) or order carryout! Take tons of photos, and dance the night away.

Jason Aldean even got in on this trend when he and wife Brittany threw an at home prom for daughter Keeley. Check out their home-video for great inspo!

This spring certainly wasn't the norm, and summer is shaping up to be more of the same. BUT-- just because it hasn't gone down the way any of us may have planned or expected, it doesn't mean we can't make the best and have even more fun with the new routes! We hope that these ideas give you the opportunity to make up for opportunities you may otherwise miss, and as always we hope to see you in shopping soon!

XOXO,

RaeLynn's
